A case has been filed with the capital's Shahbagh police against Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Vice President (VP) Nurul Haque Nur and 28 others over the DUCSU attacks on Sunday (Dec 22).
A student of the university, DM Sabbir filed the lawsuit on Thursday (Dec 26), Shahbagh police Inspector (operations) Mahabubur Rahman told Bangla Tribune.
"Apart from the 29 including Nur, 15 to 20 other unidentified persons have been made accused in the case," Rahman said.
According to the case details, VP Nur and others accused on Dec 22 carried out attacks with sticks and lethal weapons, leaving eight people injured including Muktijuddho Manch President Aminul Islam.
The accused stanched away their moneybags, mobiles and wristwatches during the incident. Fifteen to twenty attackers used the sticks and sharpen weapons, it added.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune, Acting General Secretary of the pro-Liberation War platform Iftekhar Alam Rishat said they had moved to initiate a case but it didn't happen.
Rishat, however, appreciated the lawsuit.
"DM Sabbir, a student of [DU's] Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haq Hall lodged the case. We appreciate him," the Muktijuddho Manch leader said.
