Two leaders of Muktijuddho Mancha have been detained over their alleged involvement in the attacks on DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur and others, said police.
Al Mamun, the general secretary of Mancha and the platform's Dhaka University unit general secretary Yasir Arafat Turjo were arrested from Shahbagh on Monday (Dec 22), said Additional Commissioner M Abdul Baten of the Dhaka metro police's Detective Branch (DB).
"They have been brought in for questioning," he said.
DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur and at least 17 of his followers have been injured in attacks after heated arguments with leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League on the campus.
The members of the ruling Awami League's student wing, who work under the banner of Muktijuddho Mancha, were reportedly active during the incident in and outside the DUCSU Bhaban on Sunday.
But both organisations have denied beating up Nur and the others.
