DU opens inquiry over attacks on Nur

DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur at DMCH after sustaining injuries in a brawl at DUCSU office on Sunday (Dec 22).Dhaka University authorities have opened an inquiry into the attacks on the offices of its central students' union (DUCSU) leaving its Vice President (VP) Nurul Haque Nur and at least 17 others injured.
A six-strong panel led by Arts faculty Dean Abu Md Delwar Hossain has been asked to report within six working days over "the unfortunate and uncalled for incident", said a statement by the DU public relations office on Monday (Dec 23).
The other members of the committee are Shamsun Nahar Hall Provost Supriya Saha, Senate member Prof Asim Shaha Senate, International Hall provost Md Mohiuddin, Syndicate member Mizanur Rahman, member and Assistant Proctor Muhammad Mainul Karim.
DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur and at least 17 of his followers were injured in attacks after heated arguments with leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League on the campus.
The members of the ruling Awami League's student wing, who work under the banner of Muktijuddho Mancha, were reportedly active during the incident in and outside the DUCSU Bhaban on Sunday.
But both organisations have denied beating up Nur and the others.
