Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Vice President has sought to press charges against 37 people over the Dec 22 attack on him.
The ruling party’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Dhaka University President Sanjit Chandra Das and General Secretary Saddam Hossain, who also serves as the DUSU assistant general secretary, have been named in the plea.
DUCSU Social Service Secretary Akhter Hossain submitted the plea with the Shahbag police on Tuesday (Dec 24).
Shahbag police OC Abul Hasan said that the petitioner has been asked to make some changes.
“A separate case won’t be opened but the names will be added to the previous case,” he said.
According to Nur’s plea, around 12 pm on Dec 22, Muktijuddha Mancha leaders and activists suddenly attacked them within the DUCSU office.
The DUCSU premises were locked so that the attack isn’t repeated but BCL activists led by Sanjit Chandra Das and Saddam Hossain unlocked the doors and entered Nur’s office.
Nur alleged that the activists led a second attack “with the intent of murdering” him and gravely injured him.
