Sylhet’s MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital has opened an inquiry over the alleged rape of teenager by an intern doctor at its premises.
A five-strong panel led by ENT Professor NK Sinha has been formed to probe the incident, said the hospital’s Director AKM Mahbubul Haque.
“The committee has been instructed to file its report within seven days,” he told Bangla Tribune.
The victim’s family lodged a complaint with the hospital authorities on Monday before starting a case against intern doctor Makame Mahmud Mahi.
Mahi is now in jail after police produced him a before a court on Tuesday.
According to the case details, the ninth-grader was raped by Mahi sometime after Sunday midnight. Police detained the intern doctor on Monday after the family filed a complaint with the hospital authorities.
Later the same day, he was formally arrested in the case started by the victim’s family.
