Four dead as train rams autorickshaw in Rangpur

At least four people, including two women have been killed and three others injured after a train collided with an auto-rickshaw in Rangpur.

The incident took place in Annadanagar Railway Station area in Pirgacha upazila around 2pm on Monday (Mar 30).

The deceased have been identified as auto-rickshaw driver Dukhu Miah, Sumi Begum, Nurunnahar and Mostaiz, said Pirgacha police OC Rezaul Karim.

OC Rezaul said: “An auto rickshaw carrying six members of a family was heading to Lalmonirhat from Annadanagar village of Pirgacha Upazila at noon. At one point, a train hit the auto rickshaw while it's driver was crossing a rail crossing near Annadanagar Railway Station area, leaving two people dead on the spot and injuring five others."

"Later, the two of the injured died on their way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital while the rest are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital." added the OC.
