An intern doctor at Sylhet’s MAG Osmani Medical College has landed in jail on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl, who was attending her grandmother admitted at the hospital.
Intern Makkam Ahmad Mahi was produced before a court in Sylhet on Monday after the victim’s family started a case hours after police detained him.
Senior Assistant Police Commissioner Golam Kawser Dastagir told Bangla Tribune that 30-year-old Mahi was formally arrested after the case was filed.
According to the case details, the ninth-grader was raped by Mahi sometime after Sunday midnight. Police detained the intern doctor on Monday after the family filed a complaint with the hospital authorities.
The intern doctor was formally arrested later in the day after the victim's family started a case.
