A head-on collision between two buses has left five people killed in Rangpur city.
The incident was reported around 12pm of Sunday from the northern divisional city’s CO Bazar, said police.
“A Panchagarh-bound BRTC-operated bus collided head-on with a Rangpur-bound bus killing five people, including three women and a child,” Rangpur Kotwali police OC Mokhtarul Islam said.
Two of the female dead victims have been identified as Roksana Begum and Ajmun Begum.
At least 40 others have been taken to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) from the scene, said the police officer before adding: “The buses have been seized.”
RMCH physician Muntasir told Bangla Tribune that eight among those injured in accident were in critical condition.
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Anamul Habib said, “An inquiry has been opened over the accident.”
