A court in Barguna has started hearing on the charge-sheet against Ayesha Siddika Minni and 23 others in Rifat Sharif murder case.
Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Gazi Sirajul Islam began the proceedings after taking the charge sheet into its cognizance on Wednesday (Sept 18) in presence nine accused including Rifat’s wife Minni.
Earlier on Sept 1, police submitted the charge sheet against 24 accused - 14 adults and 10 juveniles, in the case, Minni's lawyer Mahbubul Bari told Bangla Tribune on Wednesday.
The court also issued arrest warrants against nine accused – seven of them are underage.
A separate hearing for the underage accused will be held on Sep 22.
The next hearing for the adult accused will take place on Oct 3.
On Jun 26, Rifat, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in front of his wife Minni, in broad daylight, in the district town.
Soon after the incident, footage of the incident went viral on social media.
Following the murder, Rifat’s father, Dulal Sharif, filed a case against 12 named and five or six unknown attackers with Barguna police.

Nearly four weeks later, Rifat's wife Minni, a key eyewitness of the gruesome killing, was arrested and put on a 5-day remand as an accused of the murder case.
Minni has been released from jail, 48 days after being arrested in a case filed over the murder of her husband on Sept 3.
