Mia Ghulam Parwar has been elected as the secretary general of Islamist party Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for the next three years.
Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman administered the oath to Parwar on Thursday (Dec 26), according the party's publicity wing.
Parwar, a former lawmaker from Khulna-5 constituency, joined politics during his student life.
He was the Khulna unit president of Jamaat's student wing Chhatra Shibir before serving as the ameer of the party's Khulna chapter, its assistant secretary general.
