Three people have collected nomination forms from BNP, aiming to secure the party’s ticket and run for mayor in Dhaka North and South cities corporations elections, slated for Jan 30.
Special Secretary of BNP's Executive Committee Asaduzzaman Ripon and member of Executive Committee Tabith Awal bought the nomination forms for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) while the son of former Dhaka city mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, Ishrak Hossain, collected for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
Flanked by the party leaders, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed distributed the nomination forms at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters on Thursday (Dec 26).
DSCC mayor aspirant Ishrak claimed that being elected as the Dhaka South city mayor is not his main focus.
"I am participating in the polls as part of the parity's greater movement," said Ishrak before demanding a fair election.
DNCC mayor aspirant Tabith hoped to come out victorious in Han 30 polls.
"I am hopeful I will win and then will work for the people," he said.
