Awami League councillors and delegates are pouring into historical Suhrawardi Udyan at Dhaka and its adjoining area to attend the party’s 21st national council.
Since Friday (Dec 20) dawn, the ruling party’s leaders and activists from all over the country have started to gather outside of the venue and turned it a festive ground.
Around 7,500 councillors, 15,000 delegates, and 5,000 special guests are expected to join the opening ceremony, according to party insiders.
The party chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the council with hoisting national flag while General Secretary Obaidul Quader will hoist party flag. The national anthem will commence simultaneously.
On the second day, Saturday (Dec 21), the party chief will inaugurate council session at the capital’s Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, where new leadership for the party will be finalised in a closed-door meeting.
