Member of Awami League presidium and agriculture minister, Muhammad Abdur Razzaque has said that the main objective of the party conference this year is to take a pledge to uproot anti state and sectarian forces.
Saying that the country has become self sufficient during the tenure of AL, he commented: “Poverty has been tackled and the country is moving towards progress but new challenges are emerging and AL will go into the new era with a resolve to face the challenges. For this, a general secretary with skill and capability will be needed.”
Whoever becomes general secretary will get our full support, said the minister.
The minister made the comments on Thursday (Dec 19) during an interview with Bangla Tribune.
The main aims of the conference include: uniting the country, fix strategies and inspire the nation, Razzaque.
“We have fulfilled our challenge of providing food for all and the new challenges are ensuring nutrition and employment for educated youth.”
The minister said that there has not been any discussion about separating party from the government.
“This time, youth will be given preference and many young leaders may be seen in leadership posts.”
Speaking about the possibility of Sajib Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed joining the party leadership, the AL leader, said: “They have been working diligently for party and country and only the president can say if any posts will be given to them or not.”
Dr Razzaque said: “Through this conference, the party will become more disciplined and organised.”
Extolling the purge operation instigated by the prime minister, he observed: “With this she has won the hearts of the masses; the purge has to go on and the results will be beneficial for both the country and the party.”
