The entire country is in a festive mood with the upcoming Awami League national council, said General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“This is a historic arrangement,” he said while visiting the stage for the triennial council at Shurawardy Uddyan on Thursday (Dec 19).
He said that Awami League activists are pouring into Dhaka from all over the country to attend the council scheduled for Dec 20 and Dec 21.
“We have to implement agendas such as Mujib year and the golden jubilee of independence. Hence all our arrangements are around the stage,” he said.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the two-day council at 11am at the historic venue, the site of Bangabandhu’s landmark March 7th address and surrender of Pakistani troops in 1971.
The main council session will be held on December 21 at Institution of Engineers drawing over 7,000 councilors from across the country a day after it’s opening at the Suhrawardy Udyan.
