A member of BNP’s policymaking forum, Moudud’s remarks came on Wednesday while addressing a discussion organised by a faction of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).
“It’s quite surprising that now it’s being said that BNP leaders’ links to drugs will be probed. Then those who have been detained or killed until now, belongs to the Awami League,” he said.
The administration is now poised to use the war on drugs to crush political rivals, claimed BNP National Standing Committee member Moudud. “And it has already started. Several of our leaders and activists have been included in the list (of alleged drug dealers).”
Claiming collusion between drug dealers and a faction of the police, Modud said the on-going crackdown on drugs aiming innocent people was an attempt to cover it up.
“All the killings should be investigated by a retired Supreme Court judge-led probe commission.”
