Amid the nationwide crackdown, the government is now looking for any involvement of BNP leaders in drug dealing, Road Transports Minster Obaidul Quader said.
Speaking at a seminar in Dhaka on Tuesday (Jun 5), the general secretary of ruling Awami League, said “We are looking into the whereabouts of yours (BNP leaders) and whether they maintain links to drug dealers.”
Speaking on justice to Ekram, the minister said. “If it is proved that Ekram was murdered, the killers will be brought under trial.”
Juba League leader Ekramul Haque was killed in drug raid in Cox’s Bazar on May 27. A week later, audio clips of Ekram killing surfaced drawing controversy on the large-scale crackdown.
Blaming BNP for admitting the inclusion of drug dealers in its committees, Quader said, “I have seen the name of the BNP Dhaka North city unit committee in newspapers that reportedly included drug dealers and terrorists.”
“Now, we are looking into other committees to find out more drug dealers’”, he said.
