The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has adjourned the hearing until Aug 13 of the State's petition seeking to freeze the High Court (HC) order to send jailed photographer Shahidul Alam to hospital for treatment from police custody.
The four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Thursday.
Barrister Sara Hossain stood for Shahidul Alam while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state in court.
Following a writ petition filed by Shahidul’s wife Rahnuma Ahmed, the High Court on Tuesday directed the authorities concerned to send Shahidul to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital for his treatment and medical tests.
The state on Wednesday filed a petition seeking a stay on the order.
Shahidul was picked up by plainclothes men on Sunday night and was placed on a seven-day remand by a Dhaka court on Monday.
