Renowned photographer and social activist Shahidul Alam has been taken to Detective Branch offices after health tests at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital, said DMP Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman.
Earlier on Wednesday, he was taken to the hospital in line with a High Court order.Alam, the founder of photography agency Drik and Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, was picked up from his Dhanmondi home around 10:30pm on Sunday.
The award-winning photographer was picked up a day after he was assaulted while capturing photos of the ongoing students’ protests and his camera was vandalised in Dhanmondi area.
Police have brought charges of spreading false information through social media against him under the ICT Act's controversial Section 57. He was produced before a court on Monday, when the investigators were granted seven days to interrogate him in custody.
On Tuesday, his wife Rehnuma Ahmed moved the High Court against the remand, when the court ordered a quick transfer of Alam to hospital for treatment from police custody.
