Five more people have been arrested in a case filed over beating a woman to death in Badda.
The arrests were made late on Wednesday (Jul 24) after conducting raids in different areas of Badda, said police.
The arrestees have been identified as Murad, 22, Sohel Rana, 30, Billal Hossain, 28, Asadul Islam, 22 and Raju Ahmed, 23.
"Five people have been arrested after investigating the videos taken on mobile phones and CCTV footages," said Badda police Inspector Abdur Razzak.
Police said that so far 12 people have arrested in connection to the incident.
Previously on Tuesday (Jul 23), police arrested the key suspect Hridoy from Narayanganj’s Bhulta.
Taslima Begum Renu, the 42-year-old mother of two from Mohakhali in the capital, was beaten to death by the mob on Saturday (Jul 20) at the premises of a school.
Guardians took her to the headmaster’s room for questioning on suspicion that she was a kidnapper when she had gone to the school at North Badda.
Angry locals, who gathered outside on hearing that “a child abductor has been caught”, later snatched her away and lynched her, according to law enforcers.
Police said they responded immediately but the woman died before they arrived.
The victim’s family started a case over the death accusing 400 to 500 unidentified people.
