On the very first day of their office, commerce minister and the state minister of labour will be meeting the garments owners to resolve the protests of RMG workers who have taken to the streets for a third day demanding minimum wages according to the wage board among many other things.
A meeting of the delegations of the owners and workers, chaired by State Minister for Labour Monnujan Sufian will take place on Tuesday (Dec 8), read a labour ministry press release.
Labour ministry official Aktarul Islam has confirmed that Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will also be presiding over the meeting.
RMG workers have taken to the streets for a third day in the capital’s Uttara, Dakkhinkhan and Mirpur on Tuesday. Previously, they had blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway as well.
