Manikganj

The local administration has locked down Bailjuri village of Ghior upazila in Manikganj following the suspicious burial of a man who showed symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
Ghior Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Irene Akhter announced the lockdown on Wednesday (Mar 25).
The family of the deceased along with 26 others has been put in home quarantine until further notice.
The deceased’s brother Abul Malek said that 49-year-old Alamgir Hossain, who recently died, was a cashier at Metropolitan Hospital in Dhaka and resident of the village.
He was asked to go into home quarantine as he had been suffering from asthma and fever since last week.
However, his conditions deteriorated and he died on the way to Kurmitola General Hospital on Tuesday (Mar 24) night.
The family members later brought his body to the village and buried him at family graveyard early in the morning without informing the local administration.
The local administration, however, was tipped off and they declared the village under lockdown.
Shibaloy circle Additional Superintendant of police Taniya Sultana said that the lock down has been announced throughout the area.
