Second fire at Chattogram slum in a week

Representational imageThe second fire in a week which broke at Mirzarpool slum under Panchlaish police station in Chattogram city has been doused.
The blaze started around 10:15am and has been doused around 11.15pm on Friday, said Chattogram Fire Service's Deputy Assistant Director Farid Uddin.
Fourteen firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame, he said.
How the fire started is yet to be determined, Farid said, adding that no casualties were reported immediately.
On Jan 24, as many as 98 shanties were gutted as a devastating fire broke out at the slum, originating from a short circuit.
