Four killed in Moulvibazar, Habiganj road crashes

Four people have been killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts.
The incidents took place early on Tuesday (Jan 28).
In Moulvibazar, two people were killed and four others injured in a collision between a pick-up van and a CNG-run three-wheeler at Baurbagh area of sadar upazila around 7am.
The deceased have been identified as 34-year-old Muzahidur Rahman, and 25-year-old Al Amin; whereas the injured are Shahanur Rahman, 30, Nagendra Sutra Dhar, 50, and Md Arman Miah, 36.
Another injured person, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, has been taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Confirming the matter, Moulvibazar police Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Kamal Hossain said the bodies will be handed over to their families after autopsy.
Moulvibazar Fire Service official Md Shahin Ahmed told Bangla Tribune that the accident took place when the Sherpur-bound pick-up van collided with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving Muzahidur dead on the spot and five others injured.
The injured were taken to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, where Al Amin succumbed to his injuries, he added.
In Habiganj, two CNG-run three-wheeler drivers were killed after being run over by a truck in Bahubol area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway early Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Abdur Rakib and 45-year-old Akhter Miah.
Shaistaganj Highway police OC KM Moniruzzaman Chowdhury said: "The accident occurred near Baganbari area, when a Dhaka-bound truck ran over an autorickshaw carrying both the autorickshaw drivers, killing them on the spot."
The OC also added that the bodies, along with the mangled autorickshaw, have been kept at the police station.
