Representational imageA father of a schoolgirl in Tangail has accused five to seven unidentified men of gang-raping his daughter along with her two classmates, said police.
The girls were students of school in the district's Ghatail Upazila.
According to the case documents, four female students of the school along with their two male friends went to the nearby Satkoa forest on Sunday (Jan 26). The four girls were abducted by a group of identified men, who later phoned the families demanding ransom.
As the families did not agree to pay ransom, the men raped three girls and sexually assaulted other before fleeing, according to the families of the victim.
The girls then took refuge at the home of a local resident until the police rescued around midnight. The two male friends, who were with girls, are missing since the incident.
"A case over abduction and rape has been started. The four schoolgirls have been sent to the Tangail General Hospital for medical test. We have launched raids to nab the perpetrators," said OC Maksudul Alam of the local Ghatail Police Station.
