Akhaura Checkpost, BrahmanbariaIndian immigration has allegedly refused entry to a Bangladeshi national, owing to his travel to China around two months back.
Trader Shawkat Ahmed, from Feni, was barred at the Agartala check post on Monday (Jan 27) after being cleared by the immigration at Brahmanbaria's Akharua.
“I was refused entry by Indian immigration officials for my 7-day visit to China last November,” Shawkat Ahmed told Bangla Tribune.
Akhaura Immigration check post SI Abdul Hamid said, “Shawkat has an India visa. But Indian authorities denied his travel amid the fear of Coronavirus.”
Brahmanbaria Civil Sergeon Dr Md Shah Alam said they ran health check-up on Ahmed and couldn't detect "no symptoms of Coronavirus.”
Denying entry to India without heath check-up can create panic among the travelers, said Alam before adding a health desk has been opened at Akhaura immigration point following the alert over Coronavirus.
Nearly 1,500 people enter Bangladesh and India through Akhaura check post every day.
