BSF shoots two Bangladeshis in Lalmonirhat

Bangladesh-India Border. File PhotoTwo Bangladeshis were killed after being shot by Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) at the border area in Lalmonirhat’s Hatibandha Upazila.

The incident was reported from the upazila’s Bonchouki border on Wednesday (Jan 22) morning, Lalmonirhat-15 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) chief SM Touhidul Alam said.

The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Suruj Mia the son of son of Osman Ali and 32-year-old Shuruj Mia the son of Shahjahan Ali.

“We are trying to find out how many rounds were fired and if there are any other injured,” said Alam.

According to law enforcers, BSF opened fire on around 10 men who are allegedly illegal cow traders.

BGB sources said that the Border Outpost officer immediately reached the scene after hearing the shots where he found one of the victims dead and the other injured who later died on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
