Three killed in Chattogram road crash

A head-on collision between two buses has left three people dead and five others injured on Chattagram-Cox’s Bazar Highway.
The incident was reported around 11am on Friday (Jan 17) from Shantirhat area of Patiya Upazila in Chattogram, said ASI Alauddin Talukder of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost.
The deceased have been identified as Omar Faruk, 30, ASM Zahid Hossain, 41 and Nigar Sultana, 25.
“Among the victims, seven were brought to CMCH where the doctors declared two people dead. The injured have been admitted to the hospital,” said ASI Talukder.
Patiya Highway police Inspector Bimol Bhowmik said, “A Chattogram bound Shamoli Paribahan bus collided head-on with Bismilla Paribahan bus at Shantirhat area. Being informed, we rescued the victims and sent them to the hospital.”
“Among them two have been declared dead at CMCH and another succumbed to the injuries at a nearby private hospital,” said Inspector Bhownmik.
