NatoreA clash between two rival groups of local Awami League (AL) activists broke out at Natore’s Gurudaspur Upazilla.
The activists reportedly vandalized private properties, homes and robbed stores during the clash, which took place at the upazila’s Moharajpur village late on Thursday (Jan 16) night.
“The clash erupted as a result of a feud over establishing supremacy in the area between local AL leaders – Sohel Rana and Moktadirul Islam Mintu Biswas,” said Gurudaspur police OC Mozhahirul Islam on Friday (Jan 17).
“Eight activists of both leaders have been detained after the incident,” Islam said before adding “Necessary actions will be taken after inquiry.”
“An organisational inquiry has been opened after the clash was reported. Offenders will face punitive action from the party after the investigation,” said AL district unit Organising Secretary Malek Sheikh.
