A modern jute warehouse is being built on a piece of land which Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman bought for his wife Begum Fazilatunnesa in Khulna.
The 4-Katha land is located on the bank of Bhairab River in southwestern district’s Dighalia Upazila.
Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina acknowledged her inheritance to the property when her lawyer disclosed the matter in 2007 after Anti Corruption Commission sought her asset details.
There was an old jute warehouse, which has been demolished recently.
Bangabandhu’s younger brother Abu Naser used the land and the old buildings for commercial purposes.
Jahidul Islam, who has been living on the land for quite some time, said that different jute mills including Adamji Jute Mill used to use the old warehouse.
"Construction of a new warehouse is underway," he added.
