Police have cordoned off a suspected hideout for militant outfit in Ashulia, on the outskirts of capital Dhaka.
Police began the operation at house in Asulia's Gokulnagar area on Monday (Jan 13)evening, Dhaka's Additional Superintendent of Police Saidur Rahman, who is at the scene, told Bangla Tribune.
"We have cordoned off the house and a raid is ongoing," he said.
Sources confirmed that the raid is being conducted on a tip-off that militants in possession of weapons and explosives were holed up in the building.
According to locals, the house is owned by one 'Aktar', who lives in Saudi Arabia.
"The house was rented out 15 days ago, the landlord lives in Saudi Arabia. Law enforcers are raiding it on information of it being used as a terror hideout," said local Union Parishad member Lehaj.
