A woman and her child have been killed in a launch accident near Barisal’s Hizla upazila.
The accident was reported at the upazila’s Majhir Char area early on Monday (Jan 13).
A Pirojpur-bound launch Farhan 9 collided another launch, Dhaka-bound Kritonkhola 10 from behind. Two passengers were killed and three others were injured in the incident, said Chandpur River Police OC Abu Taher.

Chandpur river port official Azmal Huda Mithu said, the injured passengers were taken to the state-run hospital in Chandpur for treatment.
Legal action against the accountable persons will be taken after inquiring the cause of accident, he added.

According to Kritonkhola 10 launch Manager Belal Hossain, the accident occurred due to dense fog as Farhan 9 wasn't equipped with updated technology.
