Two ‘drug peddlers’ killed in Dinajpur ‘shootout’

The incident was reported from Ramsagar area of the northern district’s Sadar Upazila early on Monday (Jan 13).
The deceased are identified as Abul Kashem alias Kaissha and Lashkar Ali alias Rahamat Ali.
Acting on a top-off, a Detective Branch (DB) police team conducted a stake-out at east side of Ramsagar on Monday late night, said DB police OC Golam Rasul.
The law enforcers sighted a group of over 10 men and stopped them to search, he added.
The suspected drug peddlers suddenly opened fire on the police team, forcing them to retaliate, which triggered the shootout, said the DB official.
According to the intelligence unit of police, as many as 150 bottles of Phensedyl, a firearm and ammunition, yaba tablets have been recovered from the scene.
OC Rasul said, two DB personnel have been wounded in the shootout.
