Five people including four of a family have been killed in a collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Bheramara-Pabna highway in Kushtia.
The incident was reported from Parhouse area of the district's Bheramara Upazila around 3pm on Tuesday (Dec 14), local police OC Shuvro Prakash.
The deceased have been identified Mejba Uddin, 32, his mother Jasna Khatun, his wife Runa Begum, 24, the couple's 9-month-old Ruzdi, and CNG driver Jalal Uddin, 32.
All the victims hailed from Sarer Hat area of Rajshahi's Bagha Upazila.
OC Prakash said the accident took place when the auto-rickshaw, coming from Kushtia carrying passengers, was collided-head on with a truck in the area, killing three dead on the spot, injuring others.
Critically injured, Mejba, and mother were rushed to the state-owned hospital in the district town where they succumbed to their injuries, he added.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot.
