FILE PHOTO: Paturia-Daulatdia ferry services resume on Tuesday (Dec 24) morning.Ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia route have resumed on Tuesday (Dec 24) morning after six hours of disruption caused by dense fog.
Zillur Rahman, acting DGM of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority’s (BIWTA) Aricha office, said the authorities halted movement of ferries and launches around 3.30am due to poor visibility caused by thick fog.
To avoid accident, two ferries were kept anchored in the middle of the Padma River.
After six hours of disruption, movement of ferries and launches resumed at 9am, he said, adding that a two-kilometer long tailback was created on both sides of the river during the period.
Suspension of ferry movement has been quite common scenario in recent days as it was the third incident on the route within a week.
