Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday arrested a married couple with 12,000 yaba pills and seized a private car from their possession during a drive near Mograpara on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sonargaon upazila of the district.
The arrested Md Shohel Kazi and his wife Sabaha Afrin live in Purbo (East) Kaunia village of Chandpur district.
RAB 11 Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Alep Uddin said:"The arrested Shohel and Afrin have been selling the contraband pills for a long time now in various areas close to Narayanganj and Dhaka."
"The couple would smuggle in yaba pills through border areas of Chittagong and sell the illegal drugs using a private car. A case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act with Sonargaon police station," the ASP added.
