Barishal Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam said, the murders are suspected to be by suffocation at any time on Friday (Dec 6) night.
Banaripara police OC Zafor Ahmed said that they recovered the body of Mariam Begum, 75, from the balcony of the house, while the body of her son-in-law Alam, 40, from a room and body of her nephew Yusuf from a pond behind the house.
Yusuf’s hands and legs were tied with a rope, he added.
According to locals, Mariam is the mother of Abdur Rob, a migrant worker in Kuwait. Rob’s wife Asiya Begum and cousin Misrat Jahan was present at home.
However, they were sleeping and couldn’t notice anything during the incident, and later they claim to have found their relatives dead.
The suspected killings could have stemmed from a land dispute, said OC Ahmed citing the locals.
Police have opened an inquiry over the incident and sent the bodies of the deceased to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he added.
