A passenger was killed and five others were injured in a head-on collision between two launches near Munshiganj.
The incident was reported at the estuary of Meghna and Dhaleshwari rivers around 1:45am on Saturday (Dec 7).
The deceased was identified as Humayun Ahmed, 35, of Shariatpur, confirms Narayanganj river police outpost In-charge Abdul Hakim.
Mostafizur Rahman, inspector of Bandar Kalagasia Navy police camp, said the Chandpur-bound launch ‘Bogdadia-13’ from Dhaka collided with ‘Manik-4’, which was heading for Dhaka from Sharitpur.
A BIWTA rescue team has rushed to the spot to recover missing persons, fell from the launches, he added.
