A leader of an alleged criminal gang was shot dead in a reported gunfight with Chandina police.

The gunfight took place at Tulatuli Karaigachtola near Srimontapur area of the upazila at 3:00 am on Saturday (Nov 30).

The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain, 36, and son of Abdul Barek Mia of Fatehpur village of Chandina upazila, said SI Giasuddin of Chandina police.

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandina Police Station and three other police members were injured in the incident.

Sources said there are seven cases including robbery and arms against him.
