Siddhirgonj schoolLocal Awami League leader, Yasin Mia, in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj is accused of cancelling annual exam and classes to organise a feast in a school. Yasin Mia dispels the rumour about the feast, saying that it was a prayer event organized for his deceased parents and late AL leaders of the area.

Reportedly, on Saturday morning, the feast was organised on the field of Mijmiji Pashchimpara High School though on that day, English exams of classes 6, 7 and 9 were supposed to be held from 11 am till 2 pm.

Due to Yasin Mia’s programme, classes were cancelled and rescheduled for Dec 12. The school headmaster said: “for arranging milad and prayers, the English exam was postponed to a later date.”

Locals say that to keep his party post, the feast was arranged but the issue of prayer for deceased parents was used as a strategy to gain acceptability for the event.

However, Yasin Mia said: “exams were not scheduled for Saturday, the accusation that classes and tests were suspended are not true.”
