BMW seized from Habiganj village

The seized BMW car at Habiganj owned by an expatriateSylhet Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) have seized a BMW car owned by an expatriate from Habiganj’s Chunarughat Upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the CIID’s Sylhet office has raided the owner of the vehicle, Gaziur Rahman’s house at upazila’s Narapoti village on Friday (Nov 29).
Rahman, who lives at London as an expatriate, has allegedly used the vehicle under expired ATA carnet for a long time in the country.
Sylhet CIID tax official Abdul Motaleb said, “The seized vehicle will be taken to the directorate’s custody on Saturday (Nov 30).”
“Steps will be taken according to the customs law if the owner fails to submit proper documents,” he added.
Rahman’s lawyer Abdul Hai said, “If any law enforcement agency takes away the vehicle, they will get proper assistance from my client.”
“My client will handle the matter according to the law,” he added.
