Bangladesh-India Border. File PhotoA Bangladesh national has been allegedly beaten to death by Indian citizens near the border in Chuadanga.
The incident was reported from Chakulia border in Damurhuda upazila on Tuesday (Nov 26), confirmed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Chuadanga-6 Director Md Khalequzzaman.
The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Gani Mia, a cattle trader by profession and a resident of Kurulgachhi Chakulia village in the upazila.
According to BGB and locals, Gani intruded into Indian border early Tuesday to bring cattle herds and had an argument over dealings with Indian citizen Zakir Hossain, another cattle trader.
At one stage, Zakir along with his two siblings -- Bhoja and Bashir Ali -- beat up Gani, leaving him injured near demarcation pillar number 87.
Locals rescued and took him to Chuadanga General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 9am.
"We are investigating the incident,” Md Khalequzzaman said.
