Four to die for murder in Lakshmipur

A court in Lakshmipur has sentenced four people to death for the murder of a woman three years ago.
District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Shahenur delivered the verdict on Tuesday (Nov 26), confirmed Public Prosecutor Jashim Uddin.
The convicts are Sharmin Akhter, 27, from Basantapur Upazila in Noakhali; Jashim Uddin, 30, from Andhar Manik village in Laxmipur Sadar Upazila; Jamal Hossain, 28, from Chandraganj in Laxmipur; and Nazim Uddin, 30, from Bakhorpur Upazila in Chandpur.
All the convicts are on the run, said Jashim Uddin.
According to the case dossier, Sharmin Akhter along with associates killed her mother-in-law at her in-laws residence at Dharmapur village in Lakshmipur on Jul 14, 2016.
Later, victim’s son Khorshed Alam started a case accusing four people over the murder.
Laxmipur Sadar Police SI Morshed Alam pressed charges against the suspects on Jul 2, 2017.
