An office staff has been suspended for neglecting his duty to lower national flag before dusk at Taxes Zone Khulna.
Prashanta Kumar Roy, commissioner of the taxes zone, has taken the action against the staff, Abdus Salam, alleging negligence to duty on Monday (Nov 25).
“On Monday night, a senior official spotted the hoisted national flag,” Roy said.
“Salam has been suspended immediately with an office order,” he added.
According to Taxes Zone Khulna, Salam was responsible for hoisting the symbol of sovereignty at 9am and lowering it at 5pm every day.
As per People's Republic Of Bangladesh Flag Rules 1972, displaying national flag before dawn and after dusk is a punishable offence.
