Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a drug paddler in possession with 1-kilogram cocaine worth nearly Tk 160 million in Chattogram.
The seizure was made from Borolpole area of the port city's Halishahar at around 3pm on Monday (Nov 25), Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, assistant director (media) of RAB-7, told Bangla Tribune.
The detainee, Anwar Hossain, 35, resided in the city's Akbar Shah area. He hails from Nijkunjura village of Feni's Chhagalnaiya Upazila.
Mamun said that a team of the elite force raided the area after being tipped-off that drug peddlers were gathering there.
Sensing the RAB's presence, Anwar tried to flee the spot before being caught by the elite force.
Later RAB recovered the cocaine wrapped in newspaper and scotch tape after searching his body.
The market price of the cocaine is approximately Tk 160 million, he added.
RAB interrogated the man to found out the source of the cocaine consignment, the official said.
