Three JMB operatives to die for killing its leader

A court in Chapainawabganj has sentenced three members of the banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to death for killing a leader of the group in 2012.
The court also sentenced four other JMB members to life in prison and fines Tk 100,000 each. A failure to pay the fine would result in an additional one year behind bars.
Additional Districts and Sessions Judge Showkat Ali gave the verdict in presence of all but one convict on Monday (Nov 25).
The death row convicts are Sanowar, Jahangir Alam and Abdus Shukur while those served with life are Shamsul Haque, Saiful Islam, Shamim and Abdul Motakabbir alias Fahim.
All seven convicts hails from Chapainawabganj. Of them, Sanowar is at large.
Additional Public Prosecutor Anjuman Ara said, "JMB leader Ruhul Amin alias Salan, from Dhaka, was killed at mango orchard at Boria village of the district's Nachol Upazila in the aftermath of an internal conflict of the outfit on Apr 26, 2012.
The next morning, police recovered the torso of the leader from a local mango garden and the head from the bank of a nearby river.
The Nachol police started a murder case against unidentified assailants on the same day.
On Aug 29, 2015, police charged seven JMB men for the killing.
