One Bangladeshi national has been killed and another injured while after Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) opened fire on them.
The incident was reported from Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf Upazila on Thursday (Oct 31) while they were fishing at River Naf.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) identified the deceased as 34-year-old Nur Mohammad. His injured partner Abul Kalam was recovered by the locals.
According to local fishermen, Nur along with Kalam went to Naf River for fishing in the morning when BGP members suddenly opened fire from the Myanmar border, leaving Nur dead on the spot and Kalam injured.
BGB Teknaf-2 official Lt Colonel Faisal Hasan Khan confirmed the matter saying, “The shooting was tragic. BGB will send a letter of protest to BGP Seeking an explanation.”
