The government has withdrawn a public servant in Dinajpur over the humiliation of late freedom fighter Ismail Hossain.
Assistant Commissioner (land) Md Ariful Islam has been removed from his office, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam said on Monday (Oct 28).
Earlier in the day, Whip Iqbalur Rahim has paid respect to the late freedom fighter’s grave in the presence of Divisional Commissioner Tariqul. The Dinajpur-3 MP assured of employment for the son of the luminary, Nur Islam at a hospital in Dinajpur.
On Sunday (Oct 27), Muktijoddha Sangsad has demanded AC (Land) Arif to be unwelcomed and Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner to be made an officer on special duty (OSD) over the incident of misbehaving with freedom fighter.
Former FF Commander Akbar Ali said, the humiliation caused the freedom fighter’s decision to renounce state of honor at funeral.
Ismail was admitted to hospital on Oct 21 with different complications. He breathed his last on Wed (Oct 23).
Previously, freedom fighter Ismail Hossain wrote a letter addressed to the local lawmakerIqbalur Rahim stating, he did not want the state of honor because his professional driver son was fired last month from his government no-work-no-pay job, his family members said.
