An election commissioner has clarified the EC’s stance on congenial atmosphere during the election to the Barishal City Corporation slated for Jul 30.
“We don’t want the repetition of unwanted people’s entry to polling stations centre, booth capture and ballot-stuffing in Barishal,” Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukdar said here on Monday (Jul 15).
Talukdar travelled to the southern divisional city to attend a view exchange meeting with the local election and the law enforcement officials.
The commissioner said, “Voters must be ensured safe movement back and forth from home to polls stations.”
Citing the EC taking zero tolerance over law and order, Alam warned of taking stern action in line with the 1991 Rules, if anyone violates the laws.
The commissioner also asked police and other security forces to take maximum preparation to prevent any possible untoward situations.
