Last two of the five students who went missing in the Matamuhuri River at Chakaria Upazila in Cox’s Bazar, were found early Sunday.
The recovered victims were identified as Turjay Bhattacharya and Syed.
With the latest recovery, the Fire Services called off the rescue operation on Sunday.
Rest of the two bodies were found around 1am. The rescue operation delayed as the two bodies were stuck in the sand on the river bed, said Deputy Director Fire Services of Cox’s Bazar office Md Abdul Malek.Aminul Hossain Enshad, Farhan, class VIII student Sohrab Hossain and Turjay, class X student Sayed of Chakaria municipal area’s Grammar went missing after getting down in the river on Saturday around 4pm.
After finishing the exams, some students were playing football at the basin of Matamuhuri River, said Zahedul Islam, a teacher of the Grammar school.
“One of them swam ashore but, five others went missing, the teacher added.
