‘Robber’ killed in M’singh ‘shootout’

ShootoutPolice killed a person in a so-called shootout at Bharadoba area in Bhaluka Upazila early Sunday.
The victim was identified as Murad Siddique, 33, accused in five criminal cases including robbery, police sources said.
Tipped off, a team of police raided near the Hijack Bridge in the area around 2:15am, said the OC of Bhaluka Police Station Firoz Talukdar.
Sensing their presence, the criminals hurled chunk of bricks and later, opened fire on police forcing them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.
After the 'gun battle', lawmen recovered the body of Murad and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Two policemen were also injured during the skirmish, said police.
